The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) of the United Nations brings together experts from around the world to further gender equality and women’s empowerment. Sister Joan S. Dawber, founder and executive director of LifeWay Network, was an invited panelist at the March 22, 2017 event organized by the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the UN.
The theme of this year’s CSW was women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work. In recognition of the global crime of human trafficking, the Holy See focused a sponsored event on “Economically Empowering Trafficking Survivors to Stay Permanently Off the Streets.” As a key participant in this event, Sr. Joan shared the mission and accomplishments of LifeWay Network with a special emphasis on LifeWay’s distinctive community living model that supports healing and empowerment for the survivors we serve.
We invite you to view the complete panel presentation on UN Web TV: The United Nations Live & On-Demand.
