For the third year in a row, we were proud participants in the United Nations’ 62nd Commission on the Status of Women. The annual UN CSW is a massive, international effort with dozens of high level meetings and side and parallel events all organized around a unifying theme. This year’s theme revolved around challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls as well as women’s participation in and access to media and communications technologies.
We were delighted to host our first-ever parallel event this year titled “Equality Through Technology: Human Trafficking Survivors Reclaiming Life.” Panelists included our Education & Development Manager Lima James as well as Jessica Hubley, the CEO of AnnieCannons, Ruth Faircloth from Rural Migrant Ministry, and one of LifeWay Network’s safe house alumna. The four women discussed the empowerment of trafficked rural women, the IT field as an instrument for advancement, and challenges faced by rural communities. Check out some photos from the event below!
